American vs. brazilian culture
|
Moving from Brazil to the United States, I did not expect a lot of culture shock. Even though both countries are extremely different, they share important similarities. I did not think I would have to adapt to a new culture since I did not view it as being different from my own. For this reason, adapting to a different culture was perhaps the greatest challenge I faced in college. Everybody knows Brazil is famous for soccer, carnival, and endless parties. The United States is known across the world for its patriotism, Hollywood, its many fast food industries and other companies, among other aspects. Before I moved here, I had already visited the United States several times but I never paid attention to important cultural differences that living here has allowed me to see.
